Founded in 1425 KU Leuven is one of the oldest universities in Europe, dedicated to excellence in research and teaching and ranked consistently in the top 100 universities of the world.
In the DEEP-ER project KU Leuven participates with the Center for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (CmPA). The CmPA has an active policy of collaborations in Europe and in the US and it is part of the Leuven Mathematical Modelling & Computational Science Centre (LMCC), the Leuven Centre for Aero & Space Science, Technology and Applications (LASA) and is involved in the Exascience Lab (part of the Intel Exascience Europe).
As part of the application team, KU Leuven works on optimising its space weather application for the DEEP-ER system. The nature of the applications allows researchers to study approaches for I/O and checkpointing for conditions not seen in other applications.
